Fire safety in the home is so simple and inexpensive it’s hard to understand why the numbers of people injured or killed in house fires are as high as they are.
Smoke detectors are an important fire safety measure and it’s well established that they save lives – but there’s more to fire safety than smoke detectors. Prevent the likelihood of a fire in your home by:
- Not leaving heaters and candles unattended or close to flammable items;
- Not smoking in bed;
- Not leaving lighters and matches where children can reach them;
- Discarding faulty appliances or having them repaired;
Every family should have an evacuation plan too, particularly if your home is so secure that getting out of the front door takes time!
When a few simple fire safety measures can protect you and your family from financial loss and grief, there’s really no excuse for not employing them immediately.
