Can you afford to not secure your business to the best of your ability? Most business owners cannot regardless of the size of it.
Think about what you have stored in your building. Records, computer data, financial information, legal documents and even your employees during business hours.
Here are 6 basic things you can do to make your business more secure.
1. Control who has access. Not everyone needs a key. Make sure to limit who has a key and who has permission to make copies of keys. Over the years many businesses become lax in their key policies or even know who has keys.
2. Install deadbolts on all exterior doors. Be consistent in they style you install and know what is available as there are more choices than you might imagine.
3. Install a monitored alarm system. If someone does get into your building you need to be aware of it. Alarm systems create noise to scare burglars away and they also notify police who can respond accordingly. There are many systems available to fit any budget so do not let price stop you from getting an alarm system.
4. Use video surveillance to keep track of what is going on in your business 24 hours a day. Be mindful of giving your employees their privacy, but keep an eye on key areas so you c monitor them in case on a burglary or accident.
These are 4 basics every business should do to make it more secure. If you are not doing them today is a good day to start.
