Everyone is concerned about their own personal safety, and everyone wants to know that they are doing everything they can to keep their home and family members safe from harm. Although we do things like install alarm systems and place spy cameras, these things won’t really help us if we are attacked by a stranger in a dark alley or a deserted parking lot. If you are concerned about what happens after you’ve discovered yourself in a compromising situation, you should become familiar with the available forms of non-lethal self defense that are not available on the market.
If you’ve never thought about non-lethal self defense before, you should know that it is a term that basically refers to a tool that can be used by a regular person to stop the advances of an assailant. If the person is unable to fight their way out of a situation, or they would like to stop an intruder before they get one step closer to them or their family members, you have to use a weapon that has some distance and that is powerful enough to bring even a large attacker to their knees.
One of the most common forms of non-lethal self defense comes from something that you can spray out at a considerable distance to keep an enemy away or to stop them from what they’re doing. The most common sprays are cayenne pepper and mace. Both of these types of sprays emit a substance that will seep into the eyes, nose and mouth of an attacker and burn very badly. The pain is instant and intense, and can usually bring even a large, aggressive man to his knees within seconds after it is sprayed. These types of defense are popular amongst females because it can be carried easily in the pocket or purse, and doesn’t take much effort to deploy.
Another form of non-lethal self defense that has become very popular amongst normal citizens as well as law enforcement officers is the taser. A taser is a small gun like device that deploys an electric shock instead of a bullet or other projectile. Some of these devices emit a long wire attached to a prong, which will deliver a stream of electricity as long as you have your finger on the trigger. Other types will simply deploy a short range shock once. No matter what you choose, be sure that you are trained how to use it properly.
