One of the first places you want to put security cameras is outside your home. Place as many as needed outdoors to effectively watch every vulnerable area of your home that a burglar can use to get in to your home. Always put one or two in the driveway, the backyard and along the perimeter of your home.
The second place to put them is at all the doors leading into and out of your home. Since burglars try doors first to get into a home, this will provide a clear shot of them. That way if they do get into your home, you will have video evidence to give the police so they can be arrested.
The third most important place is inside your home. Again, this is going to catch a burglar in the act, which makes it easier for them to be arrested for the crime. Place two or three cameras inside your home if possible.
These are the most important areas to place residential security cameras where they will provide the most effective security. If you can’t afford that many cameras now, then start out with as many as possible and place them where they are needed to most such as, the front door and back door. Home security can start small and build over time, as long as you are taking steps whenever possible to build the best security you can.
